800 lbs of Marijuana

Police from the St Catherine South Division yesterday seized more than 800lb of marijuana and arrested two men at Hellshire, the seaside community fast gaining a reputation as a key hub in the transnational drug network.
The seizure was made in bushes at Half Moon Bay, close to the popular Hellshire Beach.
Police Superintendent Anthony Powell told The Gleaner that his division was ramping up the intensity of surveillance in the area in a bid to flush out criminals.
"We think this seizure is as a result of continued pressure, which we intend to keep up," he said.
Though the investigation is in its early stages, Powell said the police are probing leads that yesterday's seizure was connected to the guns-for-drugs trade, fanning out mainly to neighbouring Haiti.
The Transnational Crime and Narcotics Division has taken over the investigation.
Acting on a tip-off, the police found 12 bags containing 65 parcels between 12:45 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. The packages were securely wrapped in tape.
The two men in custody, aged 33 and 34, are reportedly a fisherman and resident of Hellshire. The police have not revealed their identities.
Hellshire, a mainly dormitory Portmore community best known for its seafood delights and beach getaways, has increasingly been used by criminals for below-the-radar rendezvous, with occasional shoot-outs and drug busts.
