Operators of Super Lotto game make it easier to win

Effective December 11, 2010 winning the Jackpot in the Caribbean-wide Super Lotto game will be a considerably easier proposition.

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, - Effective December 11, 2010 winning the Jackpot in the Caribbean-wide Super Lotto game will be a considerably easier proposition.

That’s because The Barbados and Caribbean Lotteries in cooperation with the regional Super Lotto Committee, is making changes to Super Lotto that will significantly improve the game’s odds for players.

“Previously, to win the Super Lotto jackpot, players needed to select and match 5 correct numbers from 35, and also select and match 1 Super Ball number from 35,” said Jacqueline James, Corporate Counsel & Senior Manager. “But now, we are reducing the number of possible Super Balls from 35 to 10 which will make it much easier for players.” This change will replace the 3 Chances to Win feature which added two “free” Super Ball numbers to every ticket.

To win the Super Lotto jackpot players must still correctly select and match 5 correct numbers from 35 in the first field, and select and match 1 correct number from only 10 possible Super Balls.

“We listened to what our players and retailer partners were saying, and we responded,” said James. “This makes a significant difference to a player’s chances of winning the Jackpot, in each and every country.” “As a result, we expect more consistency of jackpot winners over a twelve-month period, and we look forward to welcoming them!”

To date, the Super Lotto jackpot has been won by one lucky player in St. Maarten.

James also revealed that the new lower Jackpot odds necessitated changes in the secondary prize structure. “Complete details of the revised prize structure will be posted in each of our retail outlets where tickets are sold,” she added.

The Super Lotto game is played in Anguilla, Antigua, Barbados, Bermuda, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, St. Kitts /Nevis, St. Maarten in the US Virgin Islands and the current jackpot stands at US$2,425,000.00 one of the highest lotto jackpots in the region.
