Featured Artist : Suzanne “Zanni” Parkins - BIO

Suzanne “Zanni” Parkins grew up listening to the sounds of “The Temptations”, “The Supremes” and “The Drifters” oozing from the speakers of her father’s sound system whenever he would “play out” at round robins. Her mother’s musical influence was not lost on her and the appreciation for the storytelling stylings of Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton lingers on.

Music continued to feature highly throughout her early development and was complimented from as early as age 6 when she began dancing at The Little Theatre. By age 9 she was singing on the church and school choir at and by 13 she was performing at the Edna Manley School of Drama.

It was while watching the entertainers around her that she became inspired to pursue a career as a professional singer and even to start writing songs. During high school as her passion for singing and music grew, idols like Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera and Aayilah began to shape her unique songwriting style and sound. However, Jamaica’s rich culture could not be denied, and a heartfelt love for dancehall was firmly instilled!

After graduating from St. Hugh’s High and The University of Technology where she studied Tourism, Zanni began working in the hospitality industry until it became frustrating as it left no room to build her budding music career.
In 2010 she cut everything that didn’t have to do with music out of her life, and began pursuing a full time career as a singer and songwriter. In January 2011 she met with D.A.M. Rude Records @Nanook’s where she recorded and released her first single “How I Like It” featuring Blaze produced by Massy and D.V.US for D.A.M. Rude Records.
