Transport minister defends JDIP spending

The Transport and Works Minister Mike Henry has hit back at the People’s National Party over accusations that the Government is hiding the expenditure associated with the Jamaica Development Infrastructure Programme (JDIP).

In Gordon House last week, the Opposition spokesman on finance, Dr. Omar Davies insisted that the $8 billion listed in the Jamaica Public Bodies for work under the JDIP was not adequately explained.

Dr. Davies then accused Henry of concealing the real cost of the programme.

However, speaking to journalists at a Post Cabinet Press Briefing this morning, the transport and works minister defended the expenditure.

In supporting the transport and works minister, the information minister Daryl Vaz also defended the road repair programme.

Henry said he will provide more information on the JDIP during the sectoral debate.
