GEORGETOWN, Guyana,  – One of the four men who broke out of jail earlier this month is back behind bars after being caught by police yesterday.
Vijay Seenarine, who on remand on a charge of carnal knowledge, is the first of the fugitives who escaped from the New Amsterdam Prison on June 11 to be recaptured.

Police acting on information that Seenarine had been sighted, went to Corentyne, Berbice where they saw him walking along a road around 11 am.
In addition to the original charge, Seenarine, 33, will face a count of escaping lawful custody.
Police and soldiers are still on the hunt for two murder accused – Rickford La Fleur alias Rickford Williams, 35, and Vinood ‘Mango’ Gopaul, 19 – as well as 32-year-old Kevin ‘Long Hair’ Narine aka Ram Sookdial, who was earlier this month sentenced to nine years in prison for armed robbery on the high seas.
The four, whom the Ministry of Home Affairs said should be considered dangerous, got out of the prison around 2:30 am on June 11, by cutting through the floor board and making their way through the double floor, exiting the building and scaling the prison fence.
A Board of Inquiry has been set up to investigate how they were able to breach security.
