Singing Melody kicks off promotional tour

Reggae artiste Singing Melody left the island London this weekend for a three week promotional tour of Europe ahead of his still untitled upcoming solo album due out in November

Melody will spend three days in England, headlining a live concert at the West Norwood Banquet Hall in London on Saturday after which he is scheduled to appear on several radio shows and will also participate in a documentary The History Of Reggae on the remaining days. From London Melody will head to Rome in Italy where he will again connect with media outlets about his current and upcoming plans for the album.

Caribbean football federations could boycott probe

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados – As many as 20 Caribbean Football Union federations could snub the start of bribery investigations, scheduled to be conducted in Miami today and Wednesday.

International media reports quoted sources as saying that the majority of the federations could stay away from the series of planned interviews and have a meeting of their own to discuss the situation.

FIFA have hired a company headed by ex-FBI head Louis Freeh to investigate allegations that CFU federations took cash bribes in exchange for votes for last week’s FIFA presidential elections.

The allegations have implicated CONCACAF and CFU president Jack Warner and former FIFA presidential candidate and Asian football chief Mohamed Bin Hammam.

Ghett'a Life wins Best Pitch Award at Cannes

JAMAICAN film Ghett'a Life won the Best Pitch Award at this year's Cannes Film Festival in France, a news release from Headline Entertainment said yesterday.

Co-producer Justine Henzell presented the film for judging at the festival held in May. The film, which was entirely locally produced, was represented at Cannes by Jinga sales agency, which organised a screening attended by media and buyer representatives.

The festival is held annually in the southern region of France and consistently attracts the world's highest grossing A-list actors and film professionals, as well as distributors seeking to ink deals with potentially lucrative films.

Multi-talented Pulse model Nicole 'Sky' Gray, star of the hit movie Better Mus' Come, and rising pop artiste, will debut her first music video at the Caribbean Fashionweek (CFW) showcase which starts Friday.

The video for her single release Lollipop, was produced by William Richards and directed by Michael Cushnie and accurately reflects Sky's potential as a musical entertainer.

'Dread & Alive 6' Hits US News-Stands

After making its debut on Bob Marley's 65th birthday, February 6, 2010, the sixth issue of the comic book series 'Dread & Alive' hit news-stands in mid-May.

Dread & Alive is dubbed the first comic book with a Jamaican superhero, Drew McIntosh, and the sixth issue sees him discovering that things are not what they appear to be in a warehouse where his nemesis Gryphon had been.

The comic is conceived and drawn by Nicholas da Silva, with Joshua Chamberlin responsible for the accompanying CD with each issue, 'The Lost Tapes'. The current CD has nine tracks, including Rootz Underground's Special Place, Bushman's I Believe, Melodic's Ride On Natty, Foot Loose by Wio K, featuring Tasha Rozez and Heart of Stone by Taddy P and Tanya Stephens.
